Magnetglaze Flyscreen is an add-on kit to both Magnetglaze and Magnetglaze Pro, as it makes use of the existing steel tape on your window surround, when the insulating glazing panel is not required to be used. For many customers who have installed either of the standard Magnetglaze products for mild and cold weather heat insulation, it is natural to remove the panels for the summer months when the heating is off and a bit of fresh air is a bonus. However, such carefree ventilation can come at the price of flies, spiders and other creepy crawlies, for whom an open window is an open invitation. Simply placing a Magnetglaze Flyscreen on the existing steel can prevent any such trouble. Where the insulation is required for noise protection, such as at night to blot out a busy road or a local pub garden, it can still be replaced with a screen in the day when the house is unoccupied.
The PDF instructions on this page give a step-by-step guide to measuring up, preparing and putting together the Flyscreen, which can all be done using simple household tools. The finished frame is extremely light and can be stored when not in use, for further service next year.
Each kit comprises:
- a 5m coil of 12.5mm adhesive magnetic tape
- 4 x 1.5m lengths of white adhesive 20mm Lipped Edging
- 1 x 250mm piece of adhesive Flat Strip, for cutting to cover the corner mitres and strengthen them
1.5m x 1.5m of anti-insect Mesh
The mesh is plastic coated fibreglass, with 1mm x 1.5mm perforations, the standard for flyscreen mesh around the world. It is grey in colour and unobtrusive in appearance, it can be pulled taut, does not fray at the edges and will wipe clean. Unlike some products on the market, the continuous magnetic seal around the screen stops all bugs, spiders and creepy crawlies; there are no gaps to get around.
Note that this product is designed as an add-on to Easyfix Magnetglaze products only, to use it as a standalone product you would need to purchase steel tape for the window surround.
